After serving an engineering apprenticeship and  working in the aerospace and automotive industries, Paul moved to Rail in 2008 with Balfour Beatty as Area Maintenance Manager for the Anglia region and then as Head of Maintenance & Reliability.

Paul added responsibilities for Operations when, after playing a key part in winning the contract for HS1 Operations and Maintenance, he took up the role to lead that part of the business.

Paul joined the Crossrail project during Construction and after roles in Assurance and Operational Safety, became the Head of Rail Operations through the Testing and Commissioning phase to handover to RfL/TfL for operational running of the Elizabeth Line.

After a period as the Safety Assurance Manager for Alstom, Paul moved to the consultancy team on East Coast Digital program.  Responsibilities were in Change Management and Business Readiness, working with East Coast Main Line operators on Training, Operations, Safety Assurance and Engineering.
